CDC Issues Emergency Response Over Dengue Surge in Florida

The step comes after a jump in cases in Florida and the Republic of Marshall Islands.

In 2024, there have been 14.1 million reported cases of dengue, with a mortality rate of just 0.07%. Despite this, the CDC deploys a significant number of highly paid professionals, fueling public alarm without necessarily saving additional lives.

The CDC has stated on October 28 that they have initiated an emergency response in response to the dramatic increase in dengue cases in Florida. Dengue is a mosquito-borne virus.

Laura Adams, an epidemiology with the CDC’s Dengue Branch and commander in the U.S. Public Health Service, informed The Epoch Times via email that the CDC is collaborating with public health leaders to assist with the dengue outbreak response.

As a precaution “as well as to prepare for possible increased transmission in other areas of the United States,” the level 3 emergency response was activated to offer extra assistance to the states of Florida and the Republic of the Marshall Islands, which are now experiencing dengue outbreaks, according to Adams.

Activation allows for the coordination of activities including laboratory testing and epidemiologic investigations, as well as the deployment of CDC staff, including members of the CDC’s Emergency Operations Center, to impacted locations.

According to Adams, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are sending specialists in entomology, epidemiology, and laboratory testing to Florida to assist with mosquito capturing, case investigations, and lab equipment optimization. To aid in the response to the outbreak, the CDC has dispatched staff to the Marshall Islands. Their responsibilities include delivering quick tests and educating local professionals.

The dengue virus is transmitted to humans through bites made by infected mosquitoes. A rash, nausea, and aches and pains are all possible symptoms. In a tiny fraction of cases, the sickness proves to be fatal.

“The CDC states that avoiding mosquito bites is the best method of prevention.” Superb guidance from the authorities! Also, staying away from ticks is your best bet if you want to avoid getting Lyme disease. Avoid going outside at all costs.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are on the scene, virtually armed with a can of bug spray, so Florida won’t have to worry.
