On Saturday morning, following the Supreme Court’s temporary permit for construction to continue, Rump boasted about progress on the White House ballroom project.

The Rump posted a photo of the construction site and the caption, “Tremendous work has been done on the magnificent BALLROOM/MILITARY COMPLEX being built on the grounds of the White House!” on Truth Social.

Reports that the Trump administration intended to utilize funds allocated by Congress to other agencies to fund the ballroom project have led to a string of lawsuits and public scrutiny.

The full $400 million construction project would be funded by private donors, according to Rump’s earlier statements to reporters. According to statistics cited by The Washington Post, this amount eventually increased to $600 million.

Officials intended to utilize just $293 million from private donations, according to papers from March 2025 regarding contractors. The remaining funds would be borrowed from taxpayer-funded accounts at organizations such as the U.S. Secret Service and the White House Military Office.
