Jail Jack Smith and Make Sure He Never Practice Law Again

Tennessee Republican Senator Bill Hagerty wants Special Counsel Jack Smith to never practice law again.

About time.

After Jack Smith tried to use lawfare against Trump, his administration, and Republicans, Sen. Hagerty referred him to the Tennessee Supreme Court’s Board of Professional Responsibility. Smith made prejudiced, inappropriate, and dishonest subpoenas to phone providers for GOP officials’ phone toll information and included non-disclosure agreements to hide these acts from legislators. Smith omitted the fact that the sought documents belonged to Congress, which was unconstitutional and deceived Chief Judge James Boasberga:

Smith violated the Rules of Professional Conduct by asking and getting a federal district court nondisclosure order without disclosing relevant facts and law. His lack of transparency violated federal law and constitutional rights that enable free legislation.

Sen. Hagerty alleges that Smith prepared the subpoenas and that Judge Boasberg likely never read them and rubber-stamped them. He also omitted to cite the Speech or Debate Clause, which requires Senate information request notice.

Hagerty advised Smith’s disbarment.

In addition to Hagerty, US Senators Marsha Blackburn and Bill Lee have sued Smith. They accuse A.G. Merrick Garland of illegally nominating Smith and hold him accountable. Simple $1 damages claim.

“Through his Arctic Frost witch hunt, which targeted conservatives across America and even the President, Jack Smith committed one of the worst abuses of government authority in our country’s history,” Blackburn said.

Blackburn said, ‘This action is simply about holding Mr. Smith accountable and ensuring that our nation’s legal system is never again weaponized against the American people.’

Given his lawbreaking, Jack Smith’s rage at being called out was excessive. Chuck Grassley of Iowa and John Kennedy of Louisiana, two of the most esteemed Senate Judiciary Committee members on both sides of the aisle, strongly chastised Smith. Senator Grassley began the discussion by accusing Smith of lying and breaking the law. When Smith denied his partisanship, Senator John Kennedy called him “You make me want to throw up in my mouth,” in his trademark graphic language.

We have tolerated rogue prosecutors like Fani Willis, Alvin Bragg, Letitia James, Merrick Garland, and Eric Holder for too long. Most have received a quick slap and no serious punishment for their crimes. Time to show the value of truth and the rule of law and reclaim governance.
