AI God Not So Smart

Trump Faces MAGA Divide-The AI Fake gods Are Brain Dead  Trump, the Wanna Be President, has increased his investment in AI and data centers. The base he is on is moving the wrong way.

An enormous AI data center tragically released thousands of gallons of diesel fuel into protected wetlands in New Jersey following what seems to have been a “computer glitch” (The AI god is now a computer glitch) that caused a significant environmental disaster.

Anderson Creek is a tributary of the Hackensack River; over 5,000 gallons of diesel spilled out of a storage tank at Equinix’s NY2 data center in Secaucus. Artificial intelligence’s massive computational demands are well-suited to the huge facility.A “computer glitch” was the reason given by Secaucus Mayor Michael Gonnelli for the tragedy.

The leak occurs at a time when enormous artificial intelligence data centers are mushrooming all across the nation, necessitating copious amounts of power and backup fuel to keep their servers operational.urrently, one of these facilities has released thousands of liters of diesel into a river that is particularly vulnerable to environmental degradation.

5,000 Liters of Diesel Evaporation

The fuel leak was found outside of Equinix’s Secaucus building on September 11, according to the company.

Following a poll released by The New York Times last week, more than 60% of Americans, including 47% of Republicans, say they do not want data centers to be built. There was a private message sent by the National Republican Senatorial Committee to AI companies in August that raised concerns about how voters see data centers and said that “campaign or party committees can not fix the toxic brand of an entire segment of the economy.” Tony Fabrizio, a GOP strategist, told the party’s candidates in a memo last week that “unqualified support for building more AI data centers is a losing position.”

But the GOP has to deal with a big problem: Trump. In the past few weeks, Trump has defended both data centers and AI even more, as his policies and support for the business have come under more scrutiny. At the end of August, he said in a Truth Social post that towns that didn’t want data centers would only be “backwards and poor.”

He wrote a new set of posts last week that praised AI data centers. People on his own Truth Social platform spoke out against him. The New York Times looked at thousands of replies and found that there were four times as many negative comments as positive ones. These negative comments included some very pro-Trump accounts.

People who support tech acceleration and the White House, like former White House AI czar David Sacks and investor and Palantir cofounder Joe Lonsdale, have spoken out in support of China as a competitor. At an extra event during the convention.

What We’re Reading

According to the Washington Sun, the Interior Department is looking at at least 12 bids for data centers spread out over at least 17,600 acres of public land. This is a lot more than what was previously thought.

Natalie Fertig, a writer, went to a Pennsylvania swing district to find out how anti-data-center activists there felt about politics. Many of the people she talked to in both parties, even though they were able to stop a big data center project, felt like politicians didn’t care about them.

This week, Amazon said that it had lost customer data that was saved in data centers that were hit by Iranian drone attacks earlier this year. Reuters was the first to report on it.

On Friday, Abigail Spanberger, the governor of Virginia, signed an order that makes a state AI task force and may put limits on data centers. This is especially important because the state is home to Data Center Alley, a place where many data centers are located.
